Stories come with a Brainstorming Session

Our days won't end without telling a series of stories both from the Puranas and also the ones with a moral in them. Though I make up many stories with all the possible twists and turns, my baby enjoys the stories from the Puranas told by her dad more than the stories of present context.

I love to hear their conversation. My husband keeps trying to answer and calm down her super exited brain , but sometimes we both fail to answer them.

One such instance is when one night he was saying the story of VARAHA avatara of Lord Vishnu. He said that Lord Vishnu became Varaha to save the earth "Bhoodevi" from Hiranyaksha.
The demon Hiranakshya had hid her under the ocean. Varaha lifted the earth in between his tusks and rose from the ocean thus saving earth.

My daughter listened to the entire story carefully without disturbing her dad. She was so eager to know the strength of the God and how he fought and killed the demon. After the story was over she said, "I have a question". I knew something was coming which would challenge our brains. Now even I was eager to listen to her. Her question was, "When I see my toy globe, it has ocean present on it.. then, how did Hiranyaksha manage to hide the Earth inside the ocean ?"..

We both were wonderstuck… We were more puzzled since we had not got this doubt when we had listened to the same story since our childhood..

Later the next day when I googled, I found that it was not the actual ocean but "Garbhodaka" which is a deeper ocean present in the universe and covering half of it. The planets are going to fall into this ocean when the world would come to an end.

Quite a lot of knowledge I obtained because of my daughter :) and thanks to Google which saves us from such situations.

Enjoy Reading !!!
